4x4, Hot Rods, Bikes & American Cars
along Madeira Drive, South Coast,
I work on the South Coast in the UK next to Brighton beach,
and once a year on the second
Saturday of September, a timed quarter mile drag race, called
the Brighton Speed Trials is staged over a quarter of a mile and
the road where I work, is closed to normal traffic for the day.
All these photographs are taken by me as a snap shot of people
and their cars just passing through.
I raced my Triumph 650cc Tiger drag bike when
I was 20 years old, during the summer of 1976 on this road, when we raced
two at a time like "good ole drag racing". Today only one car
or bike can race at a time for safety reasons,
here are some of the photographs I took during 2011 & 2012.
Deuce Coupe from another angle
Plymouth Duster and Deuce Coupe.
The owner of the Deuce was standing just out of shot when I took this
picture. The sun was going down late in the evening and it
reminded me of the end of the film "American Graffiti".
The bit where John Millner stands by the Coupe after the race.

I built this Suzuki GS 550 for my son, the paint job was done
by Gary Reeves of Reeves Racing fame. I spray painted and colour matched
the wheels to the tank. the pictures are taken at the old cement works
in Beeding near Shoreham-by-Sea.UK. A graveyard for buses.
The gold ally bars are motoX and it has alloy bar ends and foot pegs.
The Suzuki GS550 started off as a training school bike, the belly pan stainless
custom two into one exhaust and restrictor kit was fitted, the allen screws
are gold colour alloy and the disks are original, the side panel is made of chequer
plate design alloy sheet.
The seat is off a Suzuki SRAD racer and I made the seat pad. The tank
is original as are the wheels, the duel lamps are streetfighter.
The seat has an inner metal frame which I made and it clips into
the original seat location.
